Fibreglass Finishes

Each of these products is hand-crafted, resulting in finishes which vary from piece to piece. Finishes and colours may not be exactly as shown.

The finishes are one of the unique qualities that enhance the realistic beauty of the product. The finishes are not painted but are an integral part of the fibreglass. The will not flake, peel or fade and are resistant to minor scrapes and scratches. Real metal is incorporated into the finishes of the products. The metal finish will continue to oxidize over time, imparting an elegant verdigris or rust patina.

Metallic Finishes
The gel-coat finish on these fiberglass containers is approximately 1/8" thick and therefore is resistant to nicks and scratches. Minor nicks and scratches can be easily buffed out to restore the color and sheen of your product. Follow the instructions below for metallic finishes. Metallic finishes will develop their own patinas as they continue to age. If you would like to adjust the developing patina, bring back the metallic luster or buff out minor scrapes and scratches, simply take a piece of fine (00) steel wool and briskly rub the affected areas. Color will be restored, scratches will be erased, and patinas will disappear (if desired). To slow down the developing patina simply apply a very slight touch of a hard floor wax after buffing the product with steel wool.

Non-Metallic Finishes
The gel-coat finish is approximately 1/8" thick and therefore is resistant to nicks and scratches. Minor nicks and scratches can be easily buffed out to restore the color and sheen of your product. Follow the instructions below for non-metallic finishes.
Minor scratches and scrapes on non-metallic finishes can be removed by taking a piece of very fine (#160) sandpaper. Rub the affected areas until the blemish or scrape is removed.

Antique Metal
The Antique Metal finish continues to age gracefully over time with the development of an orange/red rust patina. This finish, if exposed to the elements, will gradually take on the appearance and characteristics of the Antique Rust finish.

Antique Rust
The Antique Rust finish has a dominant rust patina that will continue to develop its colour. An excellent option for placement in a garden setting.

Please note that the above finishes produce real rust that can stain porous surfaces. Care should be taken when considering placement.

Slate Grey
The Slate Grey finish presents the realistic appearance of slate stone and provides a lighter colour alternative to increase your decorating options.

Bronze
The Bronze finish will continue to develop a rich blue/green verdigris which is accelerated when exposed to the elements. This finish is ideal for all the models and is the most popular choice.

Pewter
The Pewter finish is an excellent option for many of the contemporary designs and provides a good accompaniment to the modern decor.

Matte Black
The Matte Black finish provides a mark of sophistication and elegance in any decor.

Copper
The Copper finish is ideal for both the contemporary and classic designs. As in an entirely copper product, you will see the development of a green patina and aging as the product is exposed to the elements.
